What people say about the book

Timmy

This book deserves 7 stars!

"You Are Where You Go is a captivating and informative novel that dives deeply into themes of identity, personal growth and the human experience. It is an exploration of a young woman who took the risk of leaving her comfort zone and exploring distant lands far beyond her imagination while learning the lifestyles and cultures of nations on a global level. Caitlyn takes us on an incredible journey from 1st world countries to the remote edges of harsh African bushes sharing an experience only a Hollywood block buster movie would be able to bring to reality. I personally had the pleasure of meeting and transporting Miss Lubas on her South African road trip and realized she's so much more then what's recorded in this book — a strong woman whose only fears are not taking another adventure."

Incredible story about adventure, appreciation, sacrifice, and learning

"Caitlyn does an incredible job eloquently sharing her raw exciting adventures while reflecting on them in the moment. I felt like I could really hear her voice coming through the pages. I especially loved the chapters about mixed race, Antarctica, and the safari! This book helped me reminisce on my own adventures as well! Caitlyn is an amazing writer with great control of the English language and incredible ability to recognize her place & appreciation of the world. I can’t wait for the next one :)"

Could not put down!!!! So much wisdom

"I started and finished Caitlyn's book in one sitting -- I simply could not put it down!!!! Her book transported me across the world and inspired me. I truly loved every sentence. It was so beautifully and thoughtfully written. Thank you Caitlyn for being vulnerable and sharing your stories. Authentic coming of age stories for that post-grad transition are few and far between. I learned so much from it personally and a lot of it gave me peace of mind in places of my life that I have been needing peace and perspective. It also made me realize I need to stop spending money on trivial things and save up for my next big transformational trip! Every 20-something should read this."

Must read for those with a curiosity for traveling and how it drives personal growth!

"As someone who discovered my own passion for traveling in college, I felt inspired and a huge sense of comfort to understand how traveling to over 70 countries transformed Caitlyn! After reading the first few pages, it was refreshing to explore Caitlyn's self-discovery and motivation of how she could learn beyond the classroom itself and rather through experiencing the world around her. Her motivation to prioritize traveling (that required making other sacrifices in her life) was eye-opening to read and reaffirmed that traveling can be feasible in my own life if I have the right mindset and desire to make it happen. Additionally, the many chapters that fill this book focuses on her different adventures around the world -- where as the reader, you can live vicariously through her experiences, yet soak in her reflections and takeaways from those significant moments in her life. Overall, I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a passion for traveling and wants to understand how traveling impacted a fellow traveler. Or for those who are simply curious about seeking discomfort by exploring the world and curious to read about how traveling can drive personal growth. In all honesty, I believe any individual can grasp a meaningful takeaway or many takeaways from this book! :)"

Caitlyn shares how she prioritized travel in her life, and inspires readers to do the same.

Excerpt from Chapter 1 - The Decision: Prioritizing Travel

For me, the world is not a checklist of places to be seen, but rather a treasure trove of perspectives to be collected and experienced.

I encourage you to travel with the motive to undertake not just a physical journey, but also a mental and emotional one. As our bodies move through new countries, taste new foods, and greet new people, our minds move through new customs, social norms, and languages that cover as much mental ground as our feet do across the physical earth.

Instead of a to-do list or a to-see list, make a to-be list. When you focus your travels around the emotions and states of mind you want to embody, rather than just the activities or attractions you want to do or see, you will be more fulfilled in your travels.

When the world begins to feel borderless, the walls between the disparate parts of yourself also begin to crumble. Each stamp in your passport is a permission slip to overcome a barrier within yourself, to discover an uncharted facet of your personality while exploring uncharted new locations.

We are all part of a global interconnected puzzle, and each trip we take shakes us the tiniest bit closer into our rightful place to complete that puzzle, and to complete ourselves.

Connecting with as many places and people as possible is the journey toward completing the puzzle within yourself.

When you decide to travel, you decide to change your life.
